The Fractions exercise type covers arithmetic with numerators and denominators. A learner can work on one operation at a time or answer a random mix of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Answers are entered as fractions using a dedicated keypad, so a child writes the numerator and denominator rather than converting to a decimal.
What can be configured
- The operation, or a random mix of all four.
- How the fractions in each question are formed.
- A test length between 1 and 15 questions.
- The time limit, in minutes and seconds.
- Keypad entry or multiple choice, and how many options to show.
Why a separate fraction mode helps
Fraction arithmetic asks for a different habit from whole-number arithmetic: finding a common denominator, multiplying across, or inverting the second fraction before dividing. Keeping it as its own exercise type means the settings a child needs for fractions do not disturb the ones used for integers.
Each exercise type stores its configuration independently, so switching between them does not mean setting everything up again.
How are fraction answers entered?
With a fraction keypad, entering a numerator and a denominator. Multiple choice is available as an alternative answer mode.
Can a child practise only fraction multiplication?
Yes. Any single operation can be selected, or all four mixed at random.
